  Display of National Flags in Kingdom Halls in Chile: WTS' Response

  remember this and other threads a few months back, on the subject that some kingdom halls in chile acquiesced to govt rules that every building should display the national flag on the day of celebration?.

  If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed ...

  matthew 17:20 - he said to them, because of your little faith.

  for truly, i say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.. i get the 'message' - if you believe enough (in fact, even a tiny amount - a mustard seed being tiny) then nothing is impossible but really, what a ridiculous statement and idea for several reasons.. there are lots of people who believe things completely and sincerely even to the point of death.

  so far i've not noticed any sudden movements of any mountain ranges.

  Simon, you're looking at the WRONG gospel! Notice what Luke records...
  

  Luke 17:5 Now the apostles said to the Lord:* “Give us more faith.”+ 6 Then the Lord said: “If YOU had faith the size of a mustard grain, YOU would say to this black mulberry tree,* ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea!’ and it would obey YOU.

  There are a couple of points that we can glean from Luke that was unclear in Matthew:

  • The point Jesus was trying to make wasn't that people needed more faith... they needed LESS faith! All these people that say they have LOTS of faith are going in the wrong direction. Jesus said to downsize to faith that is so small as to be unnoticeable. I'd say I've gone a step better and have faith the size of a severely undersized mustard seed.
    
  • Moving a mountain? I mean, why? However, for those of us that have lived around mulberry trees and birds, we've found what a mess bird crap is when they've been eating loads of mulberries! Oh the mess on my car! If only these mulberry trees were uprooted and planted in the sea! Now we have a clear example of who has the advantage: The guy with loads of faith that has been praying for the trees to move... or the guy with very little faith in god, but substantially more faith in a chainsaw?

  remember now, the preaching work belongs to the annointed, other sheep are just helpers.

  i have noticed something even long before even looking into ttatt, something about morris bothered me.

  i am personally very attuned to body language, facial expressions and general subtleties in human interaction.

  there was something about his face that really bothered me, and i will explain it.

  where we're at, we won't get it as bad as nyc, long island or new england.

  even so, my university is closed until wednesday morning, and we're expecting well over a foot of snow.. anyone else out there "hunkering down"?.

  Didn't Revelation prophecy the four horsetrumpets of the snowpocalypse?

  This could mean that the end us right around the corner. That is, the end of the third bowl-pouring-outs of the 24 pouring-bowls of wrath. So that means we're looking at about 225 years before the beginning of the end of this system.

  What is the main reason the Watchtower Society baptize their children so young?

  jesus was thirty was he was baptized.

  today, you hear of young children getting baptized as young as 10 years old.

  the parents, family and congregation think it's a wonderful idea that someone dedicates their life to jehovah at such a young age.

  Of course JWs say, "It's da troof! It's the only right decision to be made on the matter!"

  And there's bragging rights. "My daughter was so spiritual and mature that she qualified for baptism at 4 years old!"

  In reality, it all cheapens the meaning of things like "dedication" and "ordained minister." They may as well start infant baptism.

  Science still doesn't have the answers on how life first appeared

  since so many athiests in this thread, and since i'm going to college, i was curious if what i would learn in biology would change my thoughts and show that life clearly and easily spontaneously happened.

  just looking up the origins of dna or rna there is nothing conclusive.

  for example, scientists today are able to manipulate life.

  That long post and I didn't get around to the conclusion...

  The Bible still doesn't have the answers on how life first appeared. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Is God alive or dead? If s/he's alive, how did that life appear? Invisible evolution from nothing?
